Proof of delivery (POD)

Also called: POD, delivery confirmation, receiver code

Updated

Proof of delivery is the record confirming a shipment reached the correct recipient — typically a code the receiver enters on receipt, alongside an automatically logged time and location.

How proof of delivery works

Proof of delivery is the record confirming a shipment actually reached the correct recipient — not just a paper signature that anyone present at the site could give. The common mechanism today is a code sent in advance to the recipient named on the order, entered only by whoever actually holds it.

What it documents

With the code, delivery time and location are logged automatically instead of relying on the driver’s manual note, and photos are added when needed to document the cargo’s condition and quantity at the moment of delivery — especially for sensitive or multi-piece shipments.

Why it matters for your business

Any invoice without documented proof of delivery is easy to dispute. When a customer claims a shipment was late or short, proof of delivery is the one reference that settles the dispute quickly and protects your collection cycle.

POD vs a traditional signature

A paper signature doesn’t tie delivery to a specific person, while a confirmation code ties it to the actual recipient named on the order in advance — the core difference between the two.

Proof of delivery on every shipment

In the Mirabk app, the recipient gets a confirmation code to enter on receipt, with time and location logged automatically, as a standard step on every shipment, not an exception.
