Truck types in Saudi Arabia: payloads, deck sizes and how to choose

By Mirabk teamUpdated 3 min read

Freight trucks on Mirabk fall into two groups: rigid trucks for small and mid-size loads (Dyna 3–5 t, box truck and flatbed 10–12 t) and articulated trailers for large loads (a 13.6 m trailer up to 28 t, a lowbed up to 40 t for heavy equipment). Choose by weight first, then length, then the kind of cargo: refrigerated, enclosed or container.

Picking the wrong truck is the most expensive mistake in freight: too small means two trips, too big means paying for empty space. This guide covers the eleven trucks on Mirabk, with payload and deck length, and when to choose each.

Key points

  • Rigid trucks (Dyna, box, flatbed) suit small and mid-size loads inside cities; trailers suit full loads between cities.
  • Weight decides the truck class first, deck length second, and the cargo type (refrigerated, enclosed, container) last.
  • The Dyna is the smallest truck you can book on Mirabk, built for city distribution, not a pickup.

Choose a truck in three steps

  1. Weight first. Add up the full weight with packaging and pallets, and choose a truck rated above it with a margin. Overloading risks fines for the driver and delays your load.
  2. Then length. A Euro pallet is 1.2 × 0.8 m, and a 13.6 m trailer takes about 33 of them on the floor. Count your pallets before choosing.
  3. Then the cargo. Food and medicine need a reefer, dust-sensitive goods need a box, and tall machinery needs a lowbed.

The smallest truck: the Dyna

The Dyna is the smallest truck on Mirabk — a city distribution truck that reaches neighbourhoods and narrow streets and suits warehouse-to-shop runs, branch deliveries and packaging supplies. Larger orders need the large Dyna, 5 t on a 6.5 m body.

Mid-size trucks: box and flatbed

A box truck is enclosed and protects goods from sun, dust and rain. A flatbed is open, easier to load by forklift or crane, and common on construction sites.

Trailers: full loads between cities

On long routes such as Riyadh–Dammam or Jeddah–Riyadh, a trailer is the economical choice because the trip cost spreads over a bigger load. Choose:

  • Flatbed trailer for building materials and steel.
  • Curtain-side when pallets are loaded from the side by forklift.
  • Box trailer for enclosed goods.
  • Reefer for anything that must stay at a set temperature all the way.

Specialist trucks: containers, tippers and lowbeds

Container chassis move 20ft and 40ft containers to and from ports such as Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. Tippers carry fill and sand. Lowbeds carry heavy equipment, and their low deck keeps tall machinery within road height limits.

Book the right truck at an upfront price

In the Mirabk app you pick the truck type and the pickup and drop-off points, and one upfront price appears before you book. A verified driver accepts, and you follow the truck on the map through to proof of delivery.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a Dyna and a flatbed?

A Dyna is a small truck carrying 3 to 5 tonnes on a 6 to 6.5 m body, used for distribution and light goods in cities. A flatbed is a rigid open truck carrying up to 12 tonnes on an 8.5 m deck, used for building materials and light equipment.

How much does a trailer carry in Saudi Arabia?

A standard 13.6 m flatbed trailer carries up to about 28 tonnes, a curtain-side trailer up to 27 tonnes, and box and reefer trailers up to 26 tonnes.

Which truck moves heavy equipment?

A lowbed: a 13 m low deck rated up to 40 tonnes, built for excavators, cranes and tall machinery that would exceed height limits on a standard trailer.

Which truck carries a 40ft container?

A 40ft container chassis: 12.2 m long and rated up to 30 tonnes, used to and from the ports.
