Curtain-side trailer
Also called: curtain-sider, tautliner
Updated
A curtain-side trailer has canvas sides that slide open along its full length instead of only from the rear, speeding up pallet loading, and carries up to 27 tonnes.
What a curtain-side trailer is
A curtain-side trailer has durable canvas sides that open fully along the trailer’s length, instead of relying only on rear doors like a regular trailer. This lets loading and unloading happen from any point along the trailer.
Payload and use
It carries up to 27 tonnes on a 13.6 m trailer, suited to pallets loaded from the side by forklift, warehouse goods, and packaged dry food products.
Curtain-side vs regular trailer
A regular trailer has no sides at all and is loaded from above by crane, while a curtain-side trailer shields cargo from weather while keeping fast side-loading. Choose the curtain-side when you need cover without giving up loading speed.
When to choose it
Choose a curtain-side trailer for a large number of pallets that need fast forklift loading from the side, with basic protection from sun and rain that stops short of a fully enclosed box.
What to specify when booking
When you book a curtain-side trailer, state the pallet count and how it will be loaded (forklift from one side or both), so the driver confirms the loading site allows the curtain to open fully.
Book a curtain-side trailer at an upfront price
In the Mirabk app, choose a curtain-side trailer for your pallets and an upfront price appears before you book. A verified driver handles loading through to delivery.
