Trailer truck
Also called: trailer truck, semi-trailer, flatbed trailer
Updated
A trailer truck is an articulated rig — a tractor head pulling a 13.6 m flatbed trailer — used for full truckload freight between cities, carrying up to 28 tonnes.
What a trailer truck is
A trailer truck is an articulated rig made of two parts: a tractor head with the cab and engine, and a 13.6 m open flatbed trailer carrying the cargo. The head can detach from the trailer, which sets it apart from rigid trucks like a flatbed or a dyna.
Payload and use
It carries up to 28 tonnes and is the standard choice for full truckload freight between cities: steel, building materials, and pallet volumes too large for a smaller truck.
The trailer family
The same tractor-and-trailer layout appears in other types that differ only by trailer body: a curtain-side trailer with canvas sides that open along the length, a fully enclosed box trailer, and a container chassis built for shipping containers. The head stays the same; only the deck changes.
When to choose a trailer
Choose a trailer when the load is a full truckload, the route runs between cities, and the cargo needs no enclosure or refrigeration. For cargo that needs cover or cold storage, move to a box trailer or a reefer trailer instead.
Book a trailer at an upfront price
In the Mirabk app, set your pickup and drop-off, choose a trailer, and an upfront price appears before you book. A verified driver accepts the load and you track it through to arrival.
