Flatbed truck
Also called: flatbed, flat-bed truck, open-deck truck
Updated
A flatbed is an open-deck truck with no sides or roof, used for equipment, building materials and loads that don't need cover; the single-unit version carries up to 12 tonnes.
What a flatbed carries
A flatbed has an open deck with no sides or roof, loaded from the top or the side without opening any doors. It suits rebar, building materials and light equipment lifted by crane — cargo that isn’t affected by sun or dust during transport.
Payload and size
In Mirabk’s fleet, the single-unit flatbed carries up to 12 tonnes on an 8.5 m deck — enough for most contractor and factory loads within one city or between two nearby cities.
Flatbed vs trailer
When the load grows or the route stretches between cities, the trailer is the better fit: a tractor head pulling a 13.6 m open flatbed trailer that carries up to 28 tonnes. The core difference is size and whether the head can detach from the trailer.
When to choose a flatbed
Pick a flatbed when the cargo is single pieces or crane-loadable, doesn’t need weather cover, and stays under 12 tonnes. For heavier or longer loads, move up to a trailer or a lowbed depending on the cargo.
Book a flatbed at an upfront price
In the Mirabk app, pick flatbed from the truck-type list and your upfront price appears before you confirm the booking. A verified driver then accepts the load and you track it through to delivery.
