Lowbed

Also called: lowbed trailer, low-loader, low-bed

Updated

A lowbed is an articulated trailer with a low deck close to the ground, built to carry heavy and oversized equipment like excavators and cranes, up to 40 tonnes.

What a lowbed is

A lowbed is an articulated trailer with a very low deck close to the ground, unlike the raised beds of ordinary trucks. The low deck lets it carry tall equipment without exceeding the road’s maximum allowed vehicle height.

Payload and use

A lowbed carries up to 40 tonnes on a 13 m deck — the highest payload in Mirabk’s fleet. It’s used for excavators, cranes and heavy industrial machinery, and for tall or wide loads that don’t fit an ordinary truck.

Lowbed vs tipper and trailer

A tipper is built to dump loose material like sand and site spoil, not to carry fixed equipment. A regular trailer’s raised deck can’t clear the height of heavy machinery. A lowbed is the only fit between them for equipment beyond what other trucks can handle.

When to choose it

Choose a lowbed when you’re moving one heavy or oversized piece of equipment that needs special securing, not a multi-piece load better suited to a regular trailer.

Book a lowbed at an upfront price

In the Mirabk app, choose a lowbed for your heavy equipment and an upfront price appears before you book. A verified driver then moves your equipment through to its final site.
