Tipper truck
Also called: tipper truck, dump truck
Updated
A tipper is a truck with a hydraulically raised bed that dumps its load from the rear, used for sand, gravel and construction site spoil, carrying up to 30 tonnes.
What a tipper is
A tipper is a truck whose bed lifts hydraulically at the front to dump the load from the rear, with no manual unloading. This design makes it the standard choice for loose material that’s poured out rather than lifted off.
Payload and use
A tipper carries up to 30 tonnes on a 9 m bed, used for sand, gravel and construction site spoil, and any bulk material that needs fast unloading on site.
Tipper vs flatbed
A flatbed is loaded and unloaded by crane or by hand, piece by piece, while a tipper empties completely in one motion by raising the bed. A flatbed doesn’t suit large volumes of loose material, and a tipper doesn’t suit equipment or pieces that need securing.
When to choose it
Choose a tipper for construction sites that need repeated large-volume unloading of sand or fill, where the lifting mechanism saves unloading time compared with any other truck.
What to specify when booking
When you book a tipper, state the loose material type (sand, gravel, or site spoil) and the unloading location’s access, since some tighter sites need a smaller tipper than the standard size.
Book a tipper at an upfront price
In the Mirabk app, choose the tipper that fits your site and an upfront price appears before you book. A verified driver arrives and unloads directly on site.
